Death penalty plea shows Tory colours

The call by David Davies MP for the death penalty to be reintroduced clearly demonstrates the political direction of the Conservative Party.

Introducing the death penalty would do nothing to prevent crime or bring justice to victims and if anything would lead to an increase in violent crime, as has been demonstrated in the United States.

The Criminal Justice Bill will introduce real changes, including tougher jail terms for violent offenders and an expansion of community sentences, but has been opposed in Parliament by the Conservatives.

The people of Britain may now be recovering from the economic mistakes of the last Conservative government, but there would be no turning back the clocks of those who suffer miscarriages of justice from this form of state-sponsored killing.
